Saraapril Supporting Norway!

Today July 22, 2012 is exactly a year ago since Norway got struck with a heartbreaking terror attack on democracy where many young people got hurt or lost their life! To show my support for the Norwegian people that today have a memorial ceremony for the victims I have added the Norwegian Flag and dressed in blue, white and red and added a Mountain Background on my Player Card…

…to all the victims in Oslo and Utøya and their families and friends you are not forgotten!

Norway’s Message to the World after the Attacks

On July 22, 2011…One man, spurred on by right-winged, nationalist ideas and his own narcissistic personality disorder, brought to Norway a day of terror and grief. He killed almost a 100 innocents. Mostly young people. His name shall be forgotten. But the world will remember. We will remember the victims. Their families. We will remember Norway’s courage. We will remember Norway’s message:

“I have a message to the people who attacked us. This is a message from all of Norway: You will not destroy us. You will not destroy our democracy nor our quest for a better world.” Jens Stoltenberg, Prime Minister of Norway

“This isn’t a time for anger. We shouldn’t respond like that” Mohamoud, Libanese paramedic working at the scene of the bomb blast in Oslo.

“Tonight, the streets are filled with love. We are all facing a decision. We cannot change what happened. But we can decide what it does to us. We can decide to stand together. Everyone of us can take this decision. You can, and I can. We want to live in a society which offers the freedom of opinions and speech. We want to understand differences as possibilities. We want freedom to be stronger than fear. Tonight, the streets are filled with love.” Haakon, Crown Prince of Norway

“We must never cease to stand up for our values. We have to show that our open society can pass this test, too. That is what we owe to the victims and to those they hold dear.” Jens Stoltenberg, Prime Minister of Norway

“We will punish the guilty. The punishment will be more generosity, more tolerance, more democracy.” Fabian Stang, Mayor of Oslo

  6. 2 days ago there was a horrific shooting in a movie theater in Colorado that killed 12 people. We should show support for the victims of this tragedy, too!

  12. Thanks for your comments, it can be hard to know what to say to comfort anyone when something horrible like this happens but I agree with what one girl in Norway said in an interview after the attack "If one man can show that much hate, think about how much love we all can show together."
