Community Toy Drive :)

This is a message by Megg: Hi Penguins! The Holiday season is one of my FAVORITE times of year. I love how it can bring people together to do incredible things like Coins for Change for example!
This year, a group of us volunteered our time to help at a community Toy Drive! Each year, charities in our community collect toys donated by people like you and me to help families that are unable to purchase gifts for their kids. Each toy and game is sorted by age group so parents have an easier time picking out the perfect gift for their child. Sounds pretty amazing right? Here's a photo of our group so you can see just how generous the community is this time of year:

We had so much fun helping out, we might even make this a tradition on our team! Do you volunteer in your community? I'd love to hear about it in the comments below :) Waddle on!

…My family and neighbors collect gifts for a women's shelter every year, I’m HAPPY that I can help to make their Christmas a little brighter but SAD that women and children have to be there!

Be Heard - Let's Make the World Awesome! Video :)

This is a message by Megg: A big THANK YOU to everyone that unlocked the virtual mega-phone item and donated towards our Be Heard campaign. The Club Penguin community reached our goal of 50,000 dollars way faster than I thought we would -- this is why I am so proud to be a part of this community! To wrap up, want to share a special message from our team to you.

Remember! Bullying prevention can be supported all year around, keep standing together and making a difference! So speak up, be heard, and choose kindness. And as alway...waddle on!

…Thanks CP Team for encourage us to speak up against Bullying :) I have something to add: Sometimes when you speak up and ask a grownup for help they don’t want to do anything to help you! In fact they can start to support your Bullies as they are Bullies too!!! If that happens to you don’t get downhearted! Instead contact Kids Help Phone they are AWESOME and they will for sure give you the support and help you need to be heard :)

Me to We Speaker Molly Burke Interview :)

This is a message by Megg: Hello Penguins! When she was four-years‐old, Molly Burke’s world began to darken: she was diagnosed with a disease that caused her loss of vision. Despite this, when she was just five, she started public speaking and inspiring others with her story. Molly Burke video on Me to We

Deamama and I had the amazing opportunity to ask Me to We speaker Molly Burke a few questions about her experiences with bullying. We think her answers are really important, and we wanted to share them with you.

What would you say to someone who is been bullied today?

I’d tell them they aren’t alone. I’ve been there, and so have many others. It may feel like it’s never going to get better, but believe me, it will. Stay strong, believe in yourself, and know that it is not your fault. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help.

What would you say to someone who is being a bully today?

I think it’s important for bullies to understand the impact they have. So when I speak, I tell the good, the bad, and the ugly. I make sure my audience understands how bad it can get. I think it is important for bullies to understand that it is never too late to change and to make amends.

What would you say to a bystander who sees someone being bullied?

As a bystander, you have the power to make a difference. It only takes one person to change someone’s life. When I was being bullied, all it would have taken is someone to sit with me at lunch, ask if everything was okay, or walk with me to class. If you don’t feel like you’re strong enough to stand up to the bullies, at least stand beside the victim, show your support, and remind them that they aren’t alone.

We’re all better when we support each other. Waddle on

…Thanks Molly Burke for sharing your story! Thanks for your strength and courage to speak up against Bullying! You are a HERO :)

Question: How To Handle a Bullying Situation?

This is a message by Megg: Hey Penguins! In support of National Bullying Prevention Month, I thought it would be a good idea to share some tips I found from the PACER National Bullying Prevention Center website.

Bullying can happen anywhere, it can happen in your school or even while you're online. We do our best to keep everyone safe but if you notice yourself or someone else being bullied, here's what to do:

SPOT: Bullying can be physical, such as pushing, hitting, or taking and breaking someone else's things. It can also be verbal or online, such as name calling, sending mean messages, or making fun of another person. All these are meant to hurt another person and are not okay.

BE HEARD: There are lots of things you can do if you see bullying. Here are a few ways to help:

  • Ask the person bullying to stop. They might not realize that they are hurting the other person.
  • Don't join in. Someone who bullies often likes the attention and if you don't acknowledge it then it takes some of the fun out it.
  • Reach out. Let the person who was bullied know that you care about them by offering a kind word of support.
  • Tell an adult. If you are unable to stop the bullying yourself then tell an adult. Adults can help you enforce the rules and make sure something is done.

If everyone stands together against bullying we can make a difference. You can even ask your school to start a bullying prevention program! To find out more, you and your parents can visit http://www.pacerkidsagainstbullying.org/ for more helpful tips and activities. You can also bring Club Penguin’s “It Starts With You!” Bullying Prevention Speaking Tour to your school! Find out more here. Waddle on!

…Thanks for posting about this! NOBODY deserves to be Bullied! I think it’s sad that there are so many thoughtless and deliberately unkind people in the world that have nothing better to do with their lives than being mean to others! As a Club Penguin Blogger I’m bullied online both by kids and grownups! I want to say THANKS to ALL of you that bravely have told my and others bullies to stop! TOGETHER we ROCK and can STOP BULLYING!!!

What is Cyberbullying? How can it be stopped?

Party invitation: UK Scouts Scavenger Hunt :)

This is a message by Daffodaily5: Hiya! As you know, we launched It Starts With You last year to help spread the word (like digital butter) about how to stay safe on the internet. To spread that word even further (like digital butter on a new piece of online toast) we have partnered with The Scout Association in the UK, who have agreed to help share our safety message with Cubs, Beavers and Scouts across the country. Which is super brill, obviously. What's possibly even more brill, is that we're hosting a special online event this Sunday (October 5th) to celebrate this important new friendship! Join me and the rest of the UK team for a mega Scouts Scavenger Hunt on the server Mountain at 3pm (UK time). Here's a clue about where to meet me: (Forest)

In the true spirit of the Scouts, we're all going to wear a uniform for our expedition, so please wear the Online Safety Sweater item.

If you don't have this item yet, you just need to take the Online Safety Quiz by clicking the clipboard icon in the top left of the screen in-game:

See you on Sunday, explorers! Byeee!

…Thanks for the Party invite Daffo :) Have FUN :)

ALS Awareness: Polo Field Takes the Ice Bucket Challenge!

This is a message by Megg:  As some of you may know, Spike Hike nominated me to pour a bucket of ice cold water over Polo Field. This is all part of the "Ice Bucket Challenge" that many are taking to help create awareness and find a cure for ALS (otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.) ALS effects the way people move, meaning their bodies will gradually become paralyzed because their muscles no longer work. The challenge is to donate to the cause at alsa.org within 24 hours of being nominated or... get ice water dumped on you. We're doing both! We're challenging the Club Penguin office to donate to this worthy cause, AND we're taking the Ice Bucket Challenge...

In other news... Spike Hike is hosting an ALS Awareness Party  today at 1:00pm PST on desktop computers. Log on to the server Fog at 1pm to join the fun! Everyone is invited to log on and help spread awareness! Waddle on

…Here you can read about Lou Gehrig's Disease and here about the ALS Association Ice Bucket Challenge! Here is a Video of Bill Gates doing the Challenge :) I have an idea! I think Club Penguin should make an ALS Ice Bucket Animation and every time we used it in the online game Disney should donate real money to The ALS Association Research Program :)

Important Massage: Let's Ban Bossy!!

This is a message by Megg:

There's a super awesome public service campaign that started today called "Ban Bossy." Its aim is to encourage all girls to become leaders by providing leadership tips for girls, parents, teachers, and more! I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to take part in such a great initiative, because every girl is awesome and they deserve to know it!

Join myself and other wonderful ladies from the Club Penguin team and help raise awareness to support female leadership! You can learn more here:  http://www.banbossy.com Waddle on! -Club Penguin Team

Ban Bossy: When a little boy asserts himself, he's called a “leader.” Yet when a little girl does the same, she risks being branded “bossy.” Words like bossy send a message: don't raise your hand or speak up. By middle school, girls are less interested in leading than boys — a trend that continues into adulthood. Together we can encourage girls to lead.

…Thanks for posting this important message Megg :) TOGETHER WE ROCK!!!
