Screenhog Talks Halloween Party :)

This is a Message from Screenhog:

Hey everyone, it's Screenhog! (It's also Halloween, so does that mean I should call myself "Screamhog" this week?)

Ah, Halloween, a time for candy and costumes and ghost stories, and... oh, you already know what Halloween is! I'll just get right into what makes Halloween special this year:

  • "Night of the Living Sled" is back. Yes, Club Penguin's funniest scary movie continues at the Lighthouse! If you weren't here last year, you can watch 1 and 2 at the Coffee Shop and Night Club.
  • All is not what it seems at the Mine Shack... it's been replaced with a Haunted House! Try clicking on everything... there are a lot of surprises there.
  • Last, but not least, Club Penguin is dark and stormy! Enjoy it while it lasts! It's a perfect time of year to play Hide and Seek with your friends.

Making Stuff by Screenhog :)

This is a Message from Screenhog:

Hi everyone - It's Screenhog!
There's a lot of Halloween spookiness going on around the island. The Halloween Igloo Contest is starting on Friday along with a new furniture catalog, and the team's even been putting together more costumes for later this month. And speaking of costumes, we wanted to show you a little secret about something we do when we design clothing for penguins.
Remember the You Decide Poll with the rough art of the Gnome costume for the new November Stage? We got quite a few people asking why the penguins are always grey in these pictures. Some of you even asked if it's a new penguin color that's coming out!
It's not a new penguin color... but we do put the clothes on grey penguins for a reason. Grey is neutral - which means it doesn't look strange next to a different color. If we were to use a yellow or dark blue penguin all the time when we designed clothes, we might end up making a lot of clothing items that look really good on yellow or dark blue penguins, but nothing else! Using a grey penguin gives us the best chance of creating clothing items with colors that work on all penguins.
What do you think? If you've got any secrets of your own for putting together costumes or decorating a spooky igloo, leave them in the comments.
Waddle on!

Festival of Flight Sneak Peek :)

He here is a Message from Screenhog:

Hi everyone! Screenhog here!
Penguins may not be able to fly, but that doesn't mean that Club Penguin can't! In a few days, for the first time ever, Club Penguin will be an island in the sky.
When we first thought of the idea of putting Club Penguin in the sky, we loved it, but then we started asking ourselves some questions. What happens to the Beach or the coastline of the Cove? Can penguins still play Hydro-Hopper? And what does a device powerful enough to lift an entire island even look like, and where would we put it?
For the full answer you'll have to wait until the party, but I can show you this behind-the-scenes concept art from when we were trying to answer all these questions ourselves:click to enlargePretty neat, huh? Have fun at the party!

Happy77 and Screenhog talks Music Tunes

Greetings, Penguins!

Music Jam (I like jam) is all wrapped up, but I think music is always cool to celebrate. We wanted to give you more ways to have fun with it, and if you check out the 101 Days of Fun Offline Activities on the website, you'll see some sheet music. You can use it to learn to play a Club Penguin song! I know Screenhog's really into music so I asked him about it.                         This Sheet Music and More Fun :)

Q: We checked out the sheet music - Where can penguins find that song in Club Penguin?
A: You can hear it on the homepage when you click the Tour Guide and start the movie.

Q: The team is doing some work at the Lighthouse stage so that (just like during the Music Jam) we'll be able to hear certain instruments when we play there. What do you think?

A: I'm glad. However, I personally like seeing the songs that penguins play and sing all over Club Penguin even more.

Q: Do you play any instruments? Got any quick tips to share with other musically inclined penguins?
A: Yep, I can play a few - the alto saxophone, a few percussion instruments, but my all-time favorite is the piano. To any of you who play real instruments, keep it up! Find a song and see if you can learn how to play it, or even try and compose your own music. All of Club Penguin's music is made by someone, and maybe someday that someone could be you!

New igloo music ready on Friday... Hope you're still having fun with your bands. I'll never get tired of having really loud igloo parties!

Until then...Waddle on!!

Music Jam by Screenhog

This Message is from Screenhog:

Hey everyone, Screenhog here!

Here's a quick list of some of the things we don't want you to miss at the party:

  • If you have an instrument, then you should go to the Lighthouse stage! If you play your drums, tuba, trombone, or any guitar, you can actually hear what you're playing. Just wear the instrument (only the instrument and no other items) and dance!
  • The Underground Cave has a floor piano! Step on a key. Oh, and the switch on the wall lets you hear other penguins!
  • There are musical icicles in the Mine. Mouse over them!
  • Battle of the Bands at the Snow Forts! The stages are connected to a meter and the one with the most penguins wins!
  • The Music Maker 3000 is back! Last year it was in the Dojo but this time it's near the Snow Forts. Bring some friends and play giant musical instruments.
  • Keep checking out the big stage at the Dock as it plays music from all of the other stages. (It's also the entrance to the Backstage.)

We hope you're having a lot of fun. Let us know your favorite things at the party!

Until then...Waddle on!

Sensei Memories by Screenhog

This Message is from Screenhog:

Hi everyone! Screenhog here!
Sensei is going to show up in the Ninja Hideout, and it got me thinking that there are many of you who may not know how Sensei made his first appearance on Club Penguin. It was just after Halloween 2008, and storm clouds had darkened the island. The storm was fiercest on the mountaintops, and the snow-covered Dojo was struck by lightning!

Lots of you worked with hardhats and jackhammers to repair the hole and shovel off the mounds of snow. Some of you noticed a strange figure clothed in a brown, ragged cloak who helped to clear the snow away. A couple of weeks later Sensei revealed his identity; He had been living on Club Penguin, and had finally chosen to make himself known!

Sensei Animated

Were you there when Sensei showed up in Club Penguin?
In other news: Check out the fireworks today. Lots of you are celebrating different things this time of year so enjoy!
Until then...Waddle on!

Screenhog on Club Penguin Times - Our Newspaper :)

Hello Penguins, Screenhog here.
Every Thursday, there's a new edition of our favorite newspaper, the Club Penguin Times. Believe it or not, the Club Penguin Times is quite amazing because it's the only thing that has been updated every week, without fail, since Club Penguin began. It takes a really long time to write from start to finish. There's sketching, drawing, coloring, writing, joke and riddle collecting, and a lot of other stuff that goes into every single newspaper in Club Penguin. It's a lot of work!click to enlarge
If you're a fan of the Club Penguin Times, you'll notice that this is the first week ever that we're doing a dot to dot puzzle. What do you think?
We also wanted to give you the heads up that today's the last Reviewed by You question in the Club Penguin Times. It's moving to the blog! So the answer to this week's Reviewed by You question will be published on Thursday, June 11 - and after this week, you can look for the new questions and answers right here on the blog.
Have a great day, and don't forget to check the Boiler Room to see if there are any editions you've missed!
Until then...Waddle on!

Screenhog’s mini – Medieval Guide :)

This is a Message from Screenhog:

Hi everyone, it's Screenhog.

While you're off getting the golden armor from the ultra-cool Knight's Quest, remember to check out these other things from the Medieval Party!

*The lighthouse beacon has become a big bonfire!

*The mirror at the ski hill tries to answer your questions! Just ask your question and move your mouse over it!

*The second floor of the princess castle has a fountain with Koi in it... just remember to feed the fish!

*If you go to the Gift Shop market, you'll see a special Medieval Party catalog (including the player card background chosen by you).

*Medieval snowball fights in the Snow Forts! You don't see contraptions like that every day.

*The treetop fort in the Forest. Looks like some puffles have made their home in it.

*The huge, red dragon in the Mine. It's controlled by the Switchbox 3000.

*The Smithy where the Boiler Room was (if you can't find it, just ask a passing blacksmith).

*The Book Room has been turned into an old library, with scrolls everywhere!

*There's a bouncing wizard's hat in the lighthouse. If you haven't gotten your wizard's hat yet, I'm pretty sure it will give you one if you ask nicely.

In other news: It's time for Rockhopper to set sail from Walt Disney World in Florida! We hear that those of you who had the chance to meet him in person really enjoyed it. I'd say that our favorite pirate penguin will likely be sailing his Migrator ship to the island sometime soon...

Until next time, enjoy the party! And don't forget about the Viking Opera at the Stage!

Sled Racing Update :)

Today we got this information from Screenhog:

Hi everyone, it's Screenhog!
Friday is a big day for one of Club Penguin's oldest games. Sled Racing, which is one of the five original games that has been around since Club Penguin launched, is getting some upgrades. First, starting Friday, you'll be able to buy a toboggan and ride down the hill with it. This traditional sled will be available at the Ski Hill, and if you hold it while you enter the game, you'll get to ride it!
Secondly, Sled Racing is finally getting something that most of the other games have always had... music. Have you ever noticed how much cooler games like Aqua Grabber, Catchin' Waves, and Card-Jitsu are with music in the background? Well, tomorrow, Sled Racing is getting some pretty cool music in it too. Of course, if you're the type of person who likes to have the sound off, the mute button in your Settings is still right there... it's okay, we won't be offended! :)
Now, here's one last thing just for fun. Have you ever wanted to see a slow motion replay of the crash your penguin makes in Sled Racing

Screenhog tells about The Stage

This Message is from Screenhog:

Hi everyone! It's Screenhog again, with a little bit of Club Penguin history.
The Penguin Play Awards are almost here, and excitement is in the air! All eyes will be focused on the Stage, where the Awards will be presented. In fact, it's almost hard to remember a time when there wasn't a Stage in Club Penguin at all.
The Stage came to Club Penguin in November of 2007. Before that, the area between the Pizza Shop and the Pet Shop looked like this:

click to enlargeIt was a pretty empty area. Sometimes, penguins would sit around the tables and hang out with friends, and sometimes we'd decorate it for parties, but we'd always wanted to put a building there. What should it be? Should we put another shop there? Should we build a bowling alley? Should we have hundreds of penguins with jetpacks lift the Dojo from the top of its mountain and drop it there?
Then, we noticed how there were a lot of penguins that were pretending to do all sorts of things on Club Penguin that we didn't have yet... going to school, being superheroes, even going into space! What if we built a place that would change every month so that penguins could do all of those things? And that's why the stage was built.
As a bonus, building a very artistic stage made a very artistic puffle come out of hiding for the first time. I'm sure you know which one I mean:

Yes I Remember…It was so Much FUN Building The Stage :) This is Shakespeare she still Lives at The Stage…

Screenhog on Puffle History

Under What’s New Screenhog have published this Story:

In honor of the upcoming Puffle Party, I dug really deep to find out the history of the puffle. It's hard to believe now, but when Club Penguin launched, there were no puffles at all. At that time, the community of Club Penguin asked if they could have some kind of pet to adopt for their igloo, and we decided that, instead of using animals that already existed, we wanted to make up a completely new creature for the penguins to adopt.

We started sketching some ideas of what a Club Penguin pet might look like, and now, showing for the first time ever, here are some of those original sketches from November 2005:click to enlarge

Some of the ideas were combined, and the puffle as we know it now was born (although we liked the propeller one enough that we gave the green puffle a propeller cap to fly around with). We'd love to know what your very favorite thing is about puffles.

Until then...Waddle on!

Making Items

I LOVE all Cool Items we have in Club Penguin :) Have you ever wondered How Items are made? Screenhog tell us how…
Decide, Design, Draw, 3D... We thought you might want to see how we make an item for Club Penguin:
Step 1: Decide. Usually, items are related to what events are happening that month, or where it will be used (like the costumes in the Costume Trunk).
Step 2: Design it. A rough drawing is made of what we think the item should look like (in this case, a tuba).click to enlargeStep 3: A final drawing is made. This is a clean-up of the rough drawing, with detail, color, and shading added. The icon is also made (this is the drawing of the item that's in your inventory).
Step 4: The clothing item is then made in 3D.

Thanks Screenhog this was very interesting :)

Can you please make a Flower Bouquet Item?  Or a BIG Sunflower to carry around? Or a Garden Apron with a rake? And after Raking… FLOWERS growing in the snow? I would LOVE that :) PLEASE?

Secrets in Club Penguin

Screenhog have revealed some Cool secrets for us :) I LOVE all this small Hidden things in CP that is so interesting!

Screenhog says: We like to hide little hidden references in Club Penguin all the time. Sometimes they are really obvious, like those two puffles at the top of the stage that are like those famous actors masks.

The price of the lantern is 575. Do any of you know about the Japanese poems called haiku? The Sensei almost always speaks in haikus. The rule with a haiku is that it's a three-line poem; the first line has five syllables, the second line has seven syllables, and the third line has five syllables. In other words: 5-7-5.

Thanks Screenhog :) I knew about the theater Masks but not about the Japanese poems haiku…THANKS! Today i learned something New I LOVE that! Please learn us More :)

Treasure Book Update

Here is a Message from Screenhog:
There are some questions after Saturday's blog post about the Treasure Book update. New Club Penguin toys will be available in the next couple of weeks - and those new toys have codes that will access the updated book. But if you have a toy from the first wave of toys (like the Santa, Elf, Rockhopper, Shadow Guy, etc.) your code will get you into the first Treasure Book. Sorry for any confusion

So we have to BUY MORE TOYS! Hmmm Mum will NOT Like this at ALL!
