How to Play

Show off your costumes!

  1. Get your friends and put on your Halloween costumes! Head outside where you have room to more.
  2. Show off your costumes in front of a judge (a parent, guardian, or friend). If you’re really brave, add character to your costume by using voices, actions, sound FX, or expressions.
  3. Have the judges award prizes to every single contestant.
    Categories:
    Most creative costume
    Cutest costume
    Scariest costume

You will need

3 or more players
3 or more different colors of balloons (why not use your favorite penguin colors?)
A parent or guardian to referee
A whistle
A ball of string

How to Play

  1. With the help of a parent or guardian, blow up as many balloons as you can. You will need 1 balloon per player for each game you play.
  2. Each player takes a length of string and ties one end to their balloon. Then the players secure the other end to the ankle.

Note: There should be at least 1 foot (30 cm) of string between the balloon and each player’s ankle.
  3. Once all players have their balloons ready, the referee blows the whistle to start the game.
  4. The players have to chase each other and pop their opponent’s balloons by stepping on them. The player with the last remaining balloon wins!

Tip

Try drawing on the balloons before blowing them up and see what happens!

You will need

2 or more players
A different colored flying disc for each player
A park with trees
A parent or guardian to keep score

How to Play

The object of the game is to throw the flying disc and hit a target in as few throws as possible.

  1. Find a field with lots of space and a few trees to us as targets.

Note: A target is only considered ‘hit’ if the disc comes in contact with the portion of the trunk below the first branch.
  2. Find a place to begin the game a fair distance away from the first target.
  3. All players need to take their first throw toward the target from the same location.
  4. In the same order that the discs were originally thrown, each player will make a second attempt at hitting the target from where their disc landed.
  5. The player who successfully hits the target in the least amount of throws wins!

  2. Use markers to write ‘20 points’ above the small hole, ‘10 points’ above the medium hole, and ‘5 points’ above the large hole.
  3. Decorate the game board by drawing your favorite Fair decorations wherever they fit. Remember, bright colors are a must!

2 cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
¾ cup butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
½ cup white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
2 medium eggs

…And all the Halloween treats you can find!

Directions

*Make sure your parent or guardian helps you with these!

  1. Break the Halloween candy into chocolate chip sized pieces. If you’ve got lots, try splitting them into these categories:
    Caramel candies
    Chocolates
    Sour candies
    Gummy candies
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C)).
  3. Grab a mixing bowl and sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set the bowl aside for later.

  5. Scoop teaspoon sized balls of dough onto a lightly oiled baking sheet, leaving lots of space in between. Six cookies per sheet is plenty.
  6. Now bring your creations to life! Use a spoon to lightly press your favorite candy bits into each cookie, but don’t squish them. You can make them all the same or make ach one different! Here are a few candy combinations you could try:
Caramel Concoction – caramel cubes and candy corn
Chocolate Medley – chocolate bars and chocolate buttons all mixed up
Sour Assortment – all sort of tangy treats tangled together
Gummy Mix – throw in all things sweet, soft, and chewy
  7. Bake cookies for about 10 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before making them to a wire cooling rack.
  9. Once they’re cool, share them with your family and save some for your friends!click to enlarge

1 ¼ cups buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking powder
4 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon baking soda
Semi-sweet chocolate chips
¼ teaspoon Salt

  2. Water Card – Measure all ingredients carefully and mix them together in a blender.

TREBLE CLEF PRETZELS!

Prep Time: 1.5 hours
Cook Time: 24 min.
Ready in: 2  hours
Yield: 6 pretzels

Ingredients

¼ cup hot water
¼ cups lukewarm water
2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
1 tablespoon light brown sugar
1½ teaspoons salt
3¼ cups unbleached bread flour
1 teaspoon sugar
3 tablespoons unsalted, melted butter
Sea salt (optional)

Get an adult to help you with this recipe!

Directions

  1. Pour the lukewarm water into a large mixing bowl and sprinkle on the yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the brown sugar, the 1½ teaspoons of salt, and 2 cups of the flour. Stir the mixture till it’s well mixed.
  3. Stir in the remaining flour, ¼ cup at a time (you might not need it all). Mix into a semi-firm dough. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it for about 6 minutes, dusting the surface with flour as necessary so the dough doesn’t stick.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and roll it around to coat its entire surface. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set it in a warm place until the dough is nearly doubled in volume, about 45 minutes. Meanwhile, lightly grease a large baking sheet and preheat the oven to 450° Fahrenheit.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a flour-dusted surface and knead for 1 minute. Divide into 6 equal parts and shape each into a ball let rest for 5 minutes on a flour-dusted surface.
  6. Roll each ball under your palms and outstretched fingers until it’s about 3 feet long and ½ inch thick.
  7. Shape each dough rope into a Treble Clef. Place a maximum of three of them on a baking sheet. Leave as much space between them as possible.
  8. Stir the hot water and sugar together in a small bowl. Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the sugar water over your treble clef pretzels and top them with a bit of coarse salt. Set the pretzels aside for 10 minutes.
  9. Bake the pretzels on the center oven rack for about 6 minutes, then rotate the sheet 180 degrees and bake for another 6 minutes or until they’re golden brown.
  10. Transfer the baked pretzels to a wire cooling rack, and place the remaining three in the oven.
  11. Using a pastry, brush melted butter over the pretzels. Let the pretzels cool for a bit, but enjoy them while they’re warm. click to enlarge
