In the House I and my Family lives in I have many places where I can get Fresh Clean and Safe water to drink. I mostly use the water tap in the Kitchen when I am thirsty but I can get water from any of our two bathroom sinks and the Shower :) If I am outside and too lazy to go inside or too dusty…LOL…I can drink water from the sink in the garage and from the water tap in our Garden! This is something I and my Family often takes for granted and don’t think so much about BUT this easy access to clean water is a LUXURY that Nearly 1 billion people around the world don’t have! And the lack of access to clean water causes a litany of struggles, diseases and even death! Every week, nearly 38,000 children under the age of 5 die from unsafe drinking water and unhygienic living conditions! This makes me want to cry!
What can be Done?
Building wells and educate People about sanitation is a Good Start and some organizations do just that :)
If a Village Gets a Well. A likely scenario of improvements:
1. The walk for water that used to take everyone here three hours, now takes 15 minutes. And the water is safe to drink.
2. A hygiene worker teaches your village the importance of sanitation. Your community builds latrines and sets up hand washing stations.
3. You join the Water Committee to oversee your village’s new water source. As a woman, this is your first local leadership position.
4. You use the extra time and new water source to start a vegetable garden and feed your family. You sell your extra food at the market.
5. Your kids spend more time in school instead of waling for water. They graduate to become teachers, hygiene workers or business owners.
6. A nearby village learns how water transformed your community. They petition for a well in their village, and the cycle starts again.

Kenya: Install a clean water source at the school :)
China: 3 new latrines and a clean water system :)
India: A clean water system and four latrines at the school. A watershed will also be developed to help the residents with farming :)
Ecuador: Clean water source for the entire community of 500 people in an isolated village :)
AND we can DONATE Money to Organizational like water.org :) Right now they help people in three main geographic areas: Africa, Asia, and Central America :)
You don’t have to be rich or a grown up to help. And you don’t have to give 100 and 1000 of dollars…Small amounts of money like five dollars can be donated too :)

$200 provides a household water tap and toilet to a family in Honduras :)
$1,000 provides public water points and latrines to a village of 400 in Bangladesh :)
